| Tibet
was a sovereign state for many centuries. Tibetan culture was among the
richest and most flourishing in Asia. One Tibetan in five participated
in monastic life and exceptional ceremonies, the Kalachakras, presided
over by the country's spiritual and temporal leader the Dalaï-Lama
brought all the people together. But in 1959, China invaded Tibet and
thousands of Tibetans followed their young spiritual leader on the road
to exile. It is estimated that the genocide killed at least one million
people. Today, 400,000 Tibetans have travelled from all over the world
to attend the 25th Kalachakra taught by the 14th Dalaï Lama. Many
famous people are crusading for the Tibetan cause including American actor
Richard Gere and Chinese dissident Wei Jinshen : For the Chinese, Tibet
is like Vietnam for the USA. It will destroy them. It is already happening...
