There a two sorts of wolf.
One is the zoological reality - a species virtually extinct as it has been killed off by its main enemy : man.
The other is the mythical reality which inhabits the plains of the imagination and the forests of our collective subconscious.

BROTHER WOLF is the "outside wolf " found in our daily behaviour.
This wolf fascinates us all by its ferocious beauty and its independence.
It also suggests the "inside wolf", described so well be a hermite... and St Francis of Assisi.

BROTHER WOLF interwines myth and reality, exploring the views of troglodytic hermit monk Brother Antony - and the Menatory family who have been working to rehabilitate wolves for many years.

BROTHER WOLF is also the cycle of nature - birth, coupling, the quest for food, the fight for territory, the formation of packs... and death.

Competing directly with man for hunting grounds, predator of man's flocks, wolves haunt our dreams. Despite our fears, the film helps us discover that we are close relations-with many surprising similitaries in our social behaviour, intelligence, tenderness and desire for freedom.

BROTHER WOLF is an invitation to a double reconciliation - of mankind with canis lupus, and of man with the instinctive part of our natures symbolised by the wolf.
